Kuang-hsü Rupee ND (1907) XF45 PCGS, L&M-427. An extremely rare, somewhat crudely produced issue that was evidently modeled after the earlier Tibetan rupee type with the addition of YUN-NAN PROVINCE around the outer obverse legends and SILVER COIN in the reverse centers. It has a soft gray surfaces, no eye-catching marks and a strike that evenly portrays the design.
The PCGS and NGC population reports seem to confirm this piece's elite status among the type, with no Mint State examples having been certified and only a single finer graded example having been certified by PCGS. As such, the specialist should certainly recognize the importance of the present offering, as many years could pass until a comparable opportunity comes again.
