Offered is a beautiful French silver jeton issued for the Commission d'Instruction Primaire de la Somme (Amiens region) in 1879. This large and impressive 19th-century jeton features the classical female bust of the French Republic on the obverse, designed by Eugène-André Oudiné, with detailed laurel wreath and ribbon motif. The reverse displays the commission's inscription within an elegant wreath. These jetons were produced for regional educational and administrative institutions and are highly collectible for their historical significance and artistic quality. Edge: Plain, with silver hallmark.
